Absent mailing list & new illustrations

Hello!
I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but our mailing list link in the top left corner is gone.

We were very happy with the service that provided the list for many years and are sad to say they don't seem to be around anymore. Their site is still up, but when we tried to change our outgoing address recently, there was no one on the other side to change it for us. Multiple attempts to get a hold of them resulted in nothing and browsing around the site, it seems as though they aren't actively managing or updating it anymore. As long as a list is already in place it works fine, but any changes and it may result in not being able to send mail from it anymore without customer service to confirm change of address.

We saved the list to our own address book and will be transferring it to a new mailing list host soon. Even though the old one still accepts addresses, it won't mail anything out without the security protocol of verifying ours. Until we switch services, we thought it best to remove the link altogether. The new link will be added as soon as we get it!

As for the old host... they were a spam free, secure and independent project available free to individual people and artists. They promoted the ideals that make the web a truly resourceful, better place to explore and we'll miss them greatly. /:( I hope someone will either take their place running the wonderful site they created or follow in their footsteps.

Apart from that techish news and farewell...
...here are some new Flummeries illustrations!

Big news and decision

We don't want to cause any alarm by customers and fans finding our Etsy shop empty. We are very much still here and getting ready to release more new creatures!

Our stated desire for keeping these critters affordable while still being able to eat has led to the decision of opening our own web store to gain full control on pricing without having to factor in higher costs to cover outside fees. We discovered that with running our old shop we were ending up oft times making less than a dollar after all the various fees were taken out when our patrons and us were under the impression it was equaling substantially more than that.

The suggested solution was either to raise prices or raise shipping cost.
Our preferred solution...
... continue making them available at the price we already decided upon on our own site.

Shipping cost was already a constant bear as there was no way to accurately set it up. We're elated that in our own web store it can finally be the exact amount of postage with the added bonus of selecting your own shipping options.

It's a scary undertaking going truly independent, but one we feel more than ready to embark on. We're positive it will lead to far more creations and free up more time and ability to do some of the projects we only dreamed about before this.

We aim for this move to result in greater, more obtainable artworks for all and aspire to maintaining being the little guys that continue to bring you big smiles.

We'll be sure to announce as soon as it's launched and in the meantime will continue adding new artworks here and to our Flickr for your enjoyment!

Thank you for all of your support!

Hellooooo!

It's been a month since any Flummeries updates or posts! We got so wrapped up in our other occupations we hadn't noticed that much time had passed in between!

In the interim we hadn't completely neglected the little flums. Erik's been working on the website and I have several exciting new projects that I've been busy with.

Our website was supposed to be a big surprise as well, but unbeknownst to us it was live since several weeks ago. At least it was surprising to us because it was still showing as being routed to Etsy when in fact it was not. /:( There hasn't been a way to rectify the odd glitch as far as we've found, so...

The website is up! /:)
It's not completely finished, but as it's viewable, it seems remiss not to mention it.
We do still have some surprises up our sleeve for it that will be announced as soon as they're finished.

In other news, we are very honored to be featured on this lovely blog by Marie Tai. We're also happy to see she's announced opening her etsy shop and are looking forward to seeing her art!

Our own etsy shop has been gathering a little dust in our absence. We've created a clearance section for our close-outs marked down half price to make way for all of the new creations coming soon.

We look forward to bringing new Flummeries to you and wish you all a happy weekend!

A fine, furry fellow Part II

Simon

Simon originally studied to be a doctor, but had to quit his occupation due to differences of opinion with administrators.
He still cherishes all the knowledge he acquired and using it whenever he can, but lately just really enjoys the little things.
You wouldn't know it to look at his wild hair and vibrant horns, but he really is quite reserved.
He seems rather oblivious to his appearance and would be more than surprised if you told him he's handsome.
Simon is brilliant, but stunningly modest.
Happy Friday!
:)

A fine, furry fellow Part I

Johnny

Johnny fell out of the sky one day and discovered the joy of potato chips and cheese. We were fortunate to meet him exiting our cupboard and instantly took a liking to the little guy. He likes quietly staring out windows, but sometimes has his crazy moments running around in circles when you're not looking.
Not to be too pristine, he has one horn that's mismatched as a reminder of his unpredictability.
He also has an unprecedented knowledge of comic books and graphic novels. It comes in handy for lulls in conversation during dinner parties.
He's just a really cool fuzz to know.

we thought the t.v. antenna was broken

always the last ones to find out these things.

hello again!
with no entertainment other than watching the cats pummel each other, we fled to the office. while erik was busy figuring out why the internet connection wasn't working (because when one thing doesn't work here... usually 10 more things will break as well), i drew some pictures.

and here they be:

"The understatement"

"By the sea"
yes, we did find out that television is digital not analog now (with much snickering from eriks co-workers). and here we thought we were out of date to be the only people in the neighborhood not to have cable. thank goodness for 'firefly' box sets.
just to be even more outdated, our official statement on the matter...
'don't forget, video killed the radio star.'
the official flums statement:
'don't forget... the victor~victrola talking machine. now that was innovation!'

happy wednesday!
